This is public open space, it can not be developed!!!

The Sea Point promenade is exquisite, for locals and tourists alike, and should NOT be spoilt or destroyed, in any way.

First of all this action would destroy the view of all who have invested millions into appartments and flats across from the Promenade. Second, the Promenade is itself is a drawing card for millions of visitors each year...
we don't need another shopping centre, etc.

We need to protect our 'open' spaces and the Beach Promenade is a very special and beautiful open space.

Few will benefit from such a development. Please leave us some open spaces to enjoy the city.
Karlien de GoedeSigned on: Wed 07 May 2008 11:19:01 UTC
The promenade is the only open space in and around Cape Town I can use without feeling unsafe. Everywhere else you are in danger.
Please don't take this away from the citizens of Cape Town. In the slow months when tourists are not in town, we still are. Start looking after us for a change!

Sea Point Pavilion is our favourit spot in summer and the park in Sea Point is a favourite spot for our family on Sunday afternoons. Please do not dammage it with hotels and shops. Its beautiful as it is.

Beautifull natural public areas must remain - the city is rapidly losing these areas

I used to live in Moullie Point and recently moved to Stellenobosch. The Promonade is one of the few open spaces in Cape Town that is considered to be safe and provides an area for INTEGRATED socialising.

I lived in Sea Point for a couple of years and needed the promenade every day as escape from a four walled flat.

Please dont ruin the beautiful last little bit of natural playground we have left for children and animals. It serves as an awesome escape and outlet and great recreational area necessary for the sanity of many!
Helmut JohlSigned on: Tue 06 May 2008 13:53:17 UTC
It would be a travesty if this development is allowed.
PM MallinsonSigned on: Tue 06 May 2008 13:39:30 UTC
Keep the promenade as it is for all.
Mercia WindwaaiSigned on: Tue 06 May 2008 11:37:15 UTC
I dont think they should build on the promenade, create jobs by cleaning it instead of destroying it.
    Darrel Bristow-BoveySigned on: Tue 06 May 2008 11:12:19 UTC
It would be nice if there were even just one good public thing remaining that can't be sold to the highest bidder.

The promenade is one of the only places (that I can think of) in Cape Town where rich and poor, old and young, locals and tourists all mingle completely amicably and happily. Between the V&A, Bantry Bay and the Sea Point Main Rd we have plenty of commercial and hospitality areas in the vicinity. There is no reason develop the promenade.

For heaven's sake! There's little enough open space in the city!
Bronwen Mc AdamSigned on: Mon 05 May 2008 09:34:08 UTC
We have more than enuf development in this area, leave the promenade as it is so that we can still enjoy some of cape town's natural beauty.
Where will we walk our dogs and jog?
    It is ridiculous!
