No development other than improving the existing public spaces at the sea point boulevard should be allowed at all! The public space should be defended at all cost

My hope is that this will expose any underhanded dealings that have taken place and serve as a warning that elected officials are accountable to their electorate.

Their are plenty of other opportunities for development and commerce. The public areas along the sea front should not only ALL be kept as public areas but their maintenance/ security should improve to keep/ turn them in a world-class attraction (especially as the City of Cape Town is always on the bandwagon about how fantastic Cape Town is). Put your money where your mouths are!

Sea Point pavillion and promenade should not be developed, it is a part of our heritage, I don't think there is anyone in CPT who does not go there for walks or with their kids. Lets keep a bit of CPT unspoilt.
Adele SulcasSigned on: Mon 07 Apr 2008 23:29:49 UTC
Don't let Sea Point go the way of every other prime seafront property in the world!
Patricia F FineSigned on: Mon 07 Apr 2008 23:15:04 UTC
Seafronts are sacred space for residents and visitors to our beautiful city. They should be respected and treated with the utmost sensitivity. Few places in the world boast a coastline like the Peninsula but many have overbuilt ruined coastlines that are there for posterity.
Ania GarnettSigned on: Mon 07 Apr 2008 22:12:02 UTC
In the light of the lack of awareness of environmental impact by developers in general(there may be the odd exception) the profit motive that drives man is directly responsible for the fact that so much of our beautiful coastline has already been defaced and destroyed, changing it forever. Surely this cannot be allowed to happen in Sea Point too..

The V & A waterfront has turned into a concrete jungle and a materialistic haven so please dont spoil any more places on the coast. our souls need the open spaces!
Sylvia RyanSigned on: Mon 07 Apr 2008 21:13:34 UTC
This is part of our heritage. We cannot allow that which is precious to be destroyed.

The citizens of South Africa should be able to challenge official edicts and the mindset of our elected polititians. They don't hear or listen to us and plough along with their own agendas and that is not what democracy is all about.

I use the promenade on a daily basis and any development which would interfere with the public's use of this open space for recreational purposes should be opposed. There are ample commercial opportunities a block up on main road and at the Waterfront. There is no need for another hotel/shopping centre in the area. There is a gym less than 2km away at Greenpoint. Please do not take away one of the few places in Cape Town where people from all over the peninsula can enjoy being outdoors in a safe environment.

Public spaces that encourage activity are crucial for public health! This is non-negotiable.
Gudrun OberprielerSigned on: Mon 07 Apr 2008 16:00:53 UTC
There is increasing sacrifice of public spaces and open areas for greedy developers and the exclusive use of the rich and few. How many more restaurants and shopping centres do we need? Stop eating and go for a walk along the promenade instead, then you don't need a gym either!
