Whether in Cape Town or Johannesburg, public spaces are NOT for development. Our cities need green lung areas and building everything into high density living or working areas is not a solution.

Traffic congestion in the area already extremely bad and it is a shame to destroy whatever natural beauty exists in the area.

This is one of the most precious areas where all Capetonians and in fact any visitors to Cape Town have the opportunity to come together as a community and just enjoy each other's company without the need to buy anything!
The value of a space such as this in the life of Cape Town's citizens cannot be measured. No commercial development could ever replace the benefit the people of Cape Town currently gain from this rare piece of history, heritage and communal space.

South Africa has such a beautiful coast line of which SEAPOINT is one of my favourites. This is why tourist come to South Africa and we need them to come for this reason. Don't spoil it. NO one wants to go to a place that looks like Durban or Margate.
Riel HaumanSigned on: Wed 19 Mar 2008 19:08:20 UTC
I am not in favour of any development as mentioned.

Life in a Cape Town without that beautiful part of the city would be uniamgineable.

The developments and demolition of old buildings should stop. Architecture is a wonderful aspect of urban culture , but architecture in this day and age should be in conversation with nature. Listening and talking, but more listening than talking.
