I love the promenade and am saving up to buy roller blades so that we can go roller blading there!

I hate the idea of a shopping complex blocking the view of the sea!!!

The seafront is a place where old and young find peace and enjoyment from the city. Cape Town is about bringing nature and city living together. It is also a historical momument it has history of it's own.

DO NOT BUILD THIS OR ANYHTING ELSE ON THE PROPOSED SITE. IT IS NO LONGER AN EYE SORE. iT IS USED BY ALL NOT JUST DURING THE FEASTIVE SEASON BUT ALL YEAR ROUND. DRIVE PST ON ANY FRIDAY OR SATURDAY EVENING/NIGHT AND SEE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE/CARS IN THE PARKING LOT.

Jerry HartleySigned on: Wed 13 Feb 2008 09:30:40 UTC
It is shocking that many thousands of deprived youngsters who enjoy the facilities may be ignored in favour of a few well-heeled tourists.
Catherine PalmerSigned on: Tue 12 Feb 2008 20:09:26 UTC
How absurd that they can consider this devlopment. Anybody can see how it is used by anybody and everybody in Cape Town for sheer enjoyment of the outdoor. Cape Town has ENOUGH huge shopping centres and gyms and fancy hotels, and not enough safe, well kept and well loved green areas.
Laura SampsonSigned on: Tue 12 Feb 2008 15:50:55 UTC
walking along the promenade after work is a daily ritual for me. Swimming in the magnificent pool and lazing on the grassy banks of the windfree Pavillion are equally treasured pasttimes. Please do not take these special, treasured rituals away from me!

I am against the building of higher buildings you are taking away the view that people living there have paid lots of money for.

I disapprove of the development and totally against it. Please stop this development as we want the local community to enjoy Cape Town

I grew up in Cape Town, running on the Promenade. I intend to move back soon and would again like to run there with my children. Please don't break it. That beautifull place is or heritage.

I enjoy walking along the promonade and find it unforgivable that any one should build there.

I walk/run on the Promenade after work (Foreshore) 3 nights a week. Would be devastated if something happened to it.

we have enough malls, please do not ruin anymore of beautiful open spaces by creating more of them. Cape Town belongs to all Capetonians, not just those who can afford to buy their own piece of a sea view. I am appalled.

I work in Green Point and walk on the promenade every week day after work. I am appalled that this is even a remote possibility and strongly disapproved and voice my objections. Just another example of unscrupulous politicians and developers lining their already bulging pockets.

I have been going to the Promenade since I can remember and woul like to see my children and grandchildren go there as well because it holds fond memories for my family. It wouldn't be nice at all to take the view away from Sea Point at all either.

It would be a shame to spoil such a magnificent view and take away much needed family relaxation and fun
Adriaan FourieSigned on: Mon 11 Feb 2008 08:48:14 UTC
This area is for everyone's use and not just for the rich developers. Part of Cape Town's unique character.

seapoint promanade must not be used for residential or commercial or private development.
it must stay as a public open space

I am totally opposed to the development. I grew up in Sea Point and moved back here 8 years ago. It is clear that the open space is enjoyed by people from all over Cape Town.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to organise this petition. I stronly agree with what you are doing. It would be a terrible shame to build a great monstrous building and block the view of others. I quite agree to keep the pool and walkway as it is. It would also change our coastline which is already affected by the numerous buildings going up.

Some developments are good and improve the life and well-being of a community and an area.
Other developments detract from these vital elements of community well-being.
I believe that the proposed developments at Sea Point will do the latter, and urge that they be disallowed.
Dawn WebsterSigned on: Fri 08 Feb 2008 17:49:05 UTC
I lived in Sea Point as a child and my family used the baths frequently, as well as walking along the promenade, riding on the Blue Train and enjoying the glorious natural environment. This plan would be a disaster.

the fat cats are fat enough already. not everything in life should yield a MONETARY return.
Professor Paul SulcaSigned on: Fri 08 Feb 2008 11:41:25 UTC
We must stop this proposed nonsense. It is essential for these public open spaces to remain as such and not becoming 'just another' unwanted/unneeded property development impacting on our precious environment. There are lots of other sites for development.

Keep public space open! This is the only place where one can take a walk & get some fresh air walking distance from your place of residence and get away from the buzzy city life.
