    Please do not develop on this site. It will ruin the very soul of Sea Point's character. As an avid swimmer and Sea Point Pool season ticket holder, we will all be losing a delightful recreational area.

    I spent my early years in Sea Point, so the Promanade has been part of my life from an early age and I have continued to visit it regularly all through my life. It is one of the few spaces in Cape Town that is acessible to all and used by many for a variety of activities. In the interests of equity, it should remain a public open space accessible to all. Hands off developers and let the people enjoy.

    to develop there would be like pulling down coney island to make shopping malls

    The sea front is for all residents of this area, people of Cape Town and for visitors to our beautiful city to enjoy.
    I oppose any changes planned that will commercialise,obstruct and change the open views to the sea that we all have and currently enjoy.

    By signing this petition, I acknowledge and affirm that:

    1. No commercial development of Erven 151, 153 and 318 Sea Point West should be allowed;

    2. The Public Open Space at the Sea Point Promenade and Pavilion should be protected and maintained for all the citizens of South Africa not excluding the pools, lawns, walkways, paved areas and view points;

    3. No rezoning of Erven 151, 153 and 318 Sea Point West should be allowed;

    4. I support SEAFA in its endeavours to obtain the abovementioned goals.

    Ann MaraisSigned on: Sat 02 Feb 2008 17:28:27 UTC
    Although I don't live in Sea
    Point area, I often visit and
    enjoy walking along the beach
    front. I object MOST STRONGLY
    to this public space being given
    over to a few, privileged people
    who happen to have lots of money
    to squander - squander the
    natural resources of the SA
    public for a few selfish people.
    You cannot allow this land to be
    privatilised for a few - it must
    be preserved for future
    generations of South Africans.

    Graeme HillSigned on: Sat 02 Feb 2008 09:15:24 UTC
    This area is one of the few seafront areas open to the public and also admired by visitors and Cape Townians alike. There is enough commercial development as it is - do not let the developers whose interest is entirely monetary spoil another CT gem!
    Jane HutchingsSigned on: Sat 02 Feb 2008 07:57:12 UTC
    Enough of huge developments; we walk in Sea Point regularly and love the promenade. Am sick and tired of unnecessary buildings.

    megan kaimowitzSigned on: Fri 01 Feb 2008 18:00:35 UTC
    A monstrosity of this magnitude should be kept very hush-hush and out of the public eyes, especially when the only thing it would do besides being an eyesore is block the magnificeint view that we, as Cape Town residents are so priviliged to have on our door step. Please do not abuse this beauty.

    This is another move to privatise the sea edge which belongs to the city. This development should be stopped in its tracks immediately in order to preserve the few green spaces this city has
    Sophia SwanepoelSigned on: Fri 01 Feb 2008 15:14:29 UTC
    Cape Town is a seaside city, but Sea Point is the only place where one gets that holiday resort feeling. The area has been revitalised so beautifully and the open spaces and pools are so completely mixed and accessible to all. Rezoning and taking away the swimming pools and promanade will be a crime!
    Thanks.

    if we take away our public spaces we might as well stay indoors instead of enjoying what God has created for us nature!!!! seaviews,sunsets,space,fresh air, a meeting area just to chat, move those who want to take away our spaces to another planet that they can ruin to their hearts content
