Totally unacceptable - not everything is about making money!!! Tasneem Essop should be shot - she has made some of the most damaging decisions based on lining her own pockets!
Dave BesterSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 14:51:35 UTC
The development of the Promenade is unacceptable. It is a magnificent asset for Cape Town and provides many Capetonians with much needed relaxation.
I will fully support the fight against its development.
Mrs AM RodriguesSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 14:19:49 UTC
Let\'s preserve the heritage that we have in the natural beauty of Cape Town. Commercial enterprise MUST come second to this ideal.

No development should be allowed on the beach side of main road at all. This is public open space and Government and the City are only custodians of this space on behalf of the public. Setting a precedent for development of this nature opens the door for broad scale development throughout the City area. It should not be approvable without at least a city wide referendum.
William SegalSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 13:00:28 UTC
One wonders what happened regarding the \"deed issue\"....this title deed(if memory serves) was \"lost\"...it strictly forbad development on the beach side....track down the person who \"lost\" it methinks...accountability before profitability.
Keep up the good work SEAFA
P.S.I have some lovely pictures taken on reconciliation day of folk from all walks of life enjoying the day....if these souless developers are allowed to succeed people will no longer have a democratic right to the beauty of this area(not to mention the encumbrance upon residents).....These pictures are SEAFA\'S if required.
Dr. Ed WethliSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 12:49:01 UTC
I have resided in Cape Town for many years and still visit frequently. I think even the thought of such a development is iniquitous! [I hope my e-mail address is NOT viewable.]
Tristan KilianSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 12:44:04 UTC
We use the promenade often, to walk the dogs, view the waves and generally recreate. To think that a shopping centre will be built next to the Pavilion is terrible. That area should be public space and not a commercial mall. Imagine the parking nightmare. No, it is beyond idiotic to build something there. Next thing there\'ll be a pier out into the ocean like Durban. Horrible.

NO way to development...its a public sea front and should stay that way. Stop teh fat cats getting fatter!!!!

SAVE the promenade for all people not just the rich, as my 9 year old son said: If you dig up my pprmenade, you will have to dig me up with it.
Laura HollidaySigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 11:46:37 UTC
I get many visitors from overseas and a walk along Seapoint promenade is a real treat for them - although it is a pity that the area is no longer maintained to the standard it once was.
simone lansdowneSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 11:36:59 UTC
Every morning and evening people from all over Cape Town enjoy walking and playing along the promenade because of the view and the sea air, but mostly because it is a safe environment in which to do so. There are not many places you can do this and it would be a huge shame to take it away.
chris mccarthySigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 11:29:38 UTC
One of the few places left in central Cape Town, where people can get out doors and relax!!!
LEAVE THE AREA TO THE PEOPLE OF CAPE TOWN!!!
YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE THIS LAND FROM US!!!
LindaSigned on: Wed 04 Mar 2009 11:22:24 UTC
It would be an absolute travisty to erect a mall on our beautiful promenande.

The seafront is an attraction because it is so open and free for all to use! In this economy we don\'t need more shops!

this area is a haven - away from the stressors of modern living - and totally accessible to all. it will ruin cape town

The Sea Point promenade is one of the most glorious in the world. It has to be preserved!
I spent so much time working at the old pavilion cafe, the owners took phone messages for me. There was nowhere more inspiring to write.

I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in CT- mostly in Sea Point. The highlight for me was to be able to walk on the beachfront 2-3 times a day. It\'s what I miss most about CT. Please do not let them destoy it! sit\'s for everyone.

The direction for the future is a return to nature. we should be looking at what areas we can create as green areas, certainly not more development in an already over developed area.
lizz freemantleSigned on: Tue 03 Mar 2009 20:30:15 UTC
    less developing and more resoring

i spent 6 months in capetown, and more than anything i enjoyed my walks along the seafront. it would be heartbreaking if that beautiful seafront were to be destroyed.

What am outrage, removing part of the last green hertiage and sea front. Do these property
developers have any human side to the them. Please keep the area as is.
Sylvia KatzSigned on: Tue 03 Mar 2009 20:06:42 UTC
I love the open sea front which is one of the last of nature\'s treasures.
We have more than enough people staying in the area. It is only greed that encourages builders to utilise every bit of space for financial gain without regard for asthetics.
KARIENSigned on: Tue 03 Mar 2009 18:45:43 UTC
