please keep our promenade as is. it is still being used daily and constructing anything in it's place will lower the value of Seapoint for many of us.

Cannot imagine why anyone would want to build anything more than what currently exists down on that aprt of the beach front, and or any other part of the our beachfront. This is clearly only going to benefit the wealthy and take more open spaces away from the poor. Disgusting!!!!!
    Dr M.J. O'RiainSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 15:30:46 UTC
I object to the rezoning application and strongly urge the City to prevent the erosion of Public open spaces for the benefit of private companies.

I am in Canada at present, but will be returning to Cape Town in a few months. This really would be a huge loss if it happened.

When will commercialism and greed stop determining what we do with nature, with walks, and places to enjoy what we have been given? Stop this ridiculous plan at once!

This is a disgrace..... this was one of the first public places I made a point of taking my children to at a young age so they could appreciate the beauty etc. Why must everything be taken away? Leave it alone!

This idea is completely unacceptable and I oppose the idea, as public open space is for the benefit of all, not just one sector of society!
pat TruyensSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 14:03:01 UTC
I don't think building should be allowed on the Sea Point sea front
Barbara HowellSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 14:01:57 UTC
There are not enough Public open spaces and it would be such a pity to lose one right on the beach at Seapoint. This does not get my vote! Open up more spaces for the public to enjoy.

This is a special place and is indeed used by Cape Tonians and people from far and wide. It is a public space for recreation and should NEVER be privatised - that would be a travesty of justice.
Kim BougaardtSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 13:54:45 UTC
Don't take away our rights to fresh air, exercise, beautiful views, place to relax and be - for money hungry developers who already have too much cash to start off with!
Who needs another mall? If we wanted one, there's the one in Sea Point mainroad. And did they not just extend the Waterfront? Public Open Spaces, it's a GREAT thing. Let it not become a concept...
