Despite the fact that I do not often frequent that area I agree with the objections to the proposed development and support this endeavour.

I enjoy the option of running on the promenade in Sea Point and consider it one of the best places in the cape to enjoy some fantastic scenery. It would be a dire loss to the public of Cape Town to see this area used only by the select few who can afford to use it.
christie meyerSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 12:21:42 UTC
Free access to public space is a basic human right.
catherine van schoorSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 12:20:43 UTC
This is a public space for the enjoyment of both rich and poor, it should not be taken away from us by greedy developers who have no love for Cape Town's natural beauty.

this is a public space for the use and enjoyment of all rich and poor - it should be taken away from us by greedy developers who have no love for Cape Town's natural beauty

The Seapoint Beachfront should be left as it is for the public to enjoy. Any more building will destroy it's beauty and add to the conjestion on this road.
JESSICA JOHANSSONSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 12:10:08 UTC
THIS IS A PUBLIC SPACE USED BY ALL - TO LIMIT ITS USE TO A SELECT FEW IS ELITIST AND DISCRIMINATORY
    A.F.DeweySigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 12:08:11 UTC
Lets keep the open public areas just that.
grant arendseSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 11:59:49 UTC
It is an outrage to even consider rezoning this space

We walk in Sea Point monthly throughout the year. It would be tragic if teh beachfront becomes another shopping complex!

I regularly walk along the promenade area for fitness and am fascinated by the diversity of people who utilise this area for pleasure and fitness. Do not destroy it

i am vehemently opposed to the proposed development and feel strongly that these spaces should remain available for the use of all south africans. I will gladly give of my time and resources to oppose this proposed development.

We should lety greed get in the way of the greater good. Greater good being the common people can be seem as equals and enjoy themselves in the sun

We are all sick and tired of all these silly changes. I can't show my kids anymore beautiful things or places in and around Cape Town, without paying a fortune to get in or just to have a peek. If they want to keep the element out then the help of the SAP should be called in.
Pia FerrarisSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 11:14:28 UTC
Even though we live in PARKLANDS - we enjoy spending family time on the promenade. An afternoon kicking football in the park make the trip to Seapoint a pleasure.
Elsa GlennSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 11:02:31 UTC
Please don't let the land go to private and commercial sectors. It's one of the most cross cultural places in the city, where so many kinds of people, local and tourists, mix and appreciate the city. It has enormous history. Selling this land would be a tragedy.
Dean AtkinsSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:44:39 UTC
This simply cannot happen. I once thought of the Waterfront as my local shopping centre, but because of the greed for tourist dollars, my wife and I prefer to fully support the local business community in Sea Point.
Bill van RijssenSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:41:01 UTC
Keep our open spaces open! We need to be able to refresh our souls.

I object STRONGLY that this area be rezoned. It should remain a public space for al to enjoy. It is one of the few spaces people hav left!
Rob HowarthSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:36:52 UTC
I appose this kind of development. It would detract from the area and deprive people from a healthy, and scenic enviroment to excersise and enjoy. HOW ABOUT DEVELOPING DISTRICT 6 and various other run down areas around the Cape Town CBD.
Lisa AtkinsSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:35:35 UTC
Anyone who has been to the promenade on a weekend, they will understand the importance of this space to the people of Cape Town!

Why dont we just build houses on Table Mountain as well?!
Carl WoermannSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:00:32 UTC
Please keep this vital area free of buildings. We use this area with our children and would be poorer without it!
Nina JoubertSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:57:52 UTC
We should be protecting our open spaces. There is enough shops etc. in Cape Town and no more is needed.

Main Road Greenpoint already offers everything we as locals need - shops, malls, restuarants etc. The seafront has purposely not ever been developed because that is our view, and our views are what makes CT so attractive. Develop the beachfront, remove the view, decrease the national heritage of our land with no benefits to the public who currently enjoy the wonderful sights of Sea Point beach, and prominade. The only benefits are financial ones for the developers. Sad isn't it.

We walk along the promenade regularly, it would be a great shame to see it fall in the hands of greedy developers.
Elizma MoutonSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:20:33 UTC
The public open space at Seapoint beach front should not be developed, but kept for the public to enjoy!
Trevor WatsonSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:18:48 UTC
There are still areas in Seapoint that are degraded and could be renovated and developed without having to use our open areas.
Cindy GilbertSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:17:24 UTC
I've been walking the Sea Point Promenade since I was a little girl and now go there regularly with my two small children. It's a wonderful space to walk and enjoy what Cape Town has to offer. It would be a terrible shame to take that away from us!

I used to live in Hall road in Sea Point and made regular use of this public space for exercise and leisure. Had it not been there I would not have lived in Sea Point in the first place.
Craig EmmerichSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 08:56:44 UTC
With space in the area at a premium, one would of thought that leaving alone, the last area where public are able to freely interact, freely roam and enjoy the natural beauty that abounds, would've been the obvious choice. I am shocked at the entirely blinkered plans that have been set out. How can this work if there is not even an assurance that there will be enough electricity to run an area, which will be an eye-sore, instead of the attraction that it is now?
