It would be a real shame!
Alexia JoachimSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:37:21 UTC
I object STRONGLY that this area be rezoned. It should remain a public space for al to enjoy. It is one of the few spaces people hav left!
Rob HowarthSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:36:52 UTC
I appose this kind of development. It would detract from the area and deprive people from a healthy, and scenic enviroment to excersise and enjoy. HOW ABOUT DEVELOPING DISTRICT 6 and various other run down areas around the Cape Town CBD.
Lisa AtkinsSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:35:35 UTC
Anyone who has been to the promenade on a weekend, they will understand the importance of this space to the people of Cape Town!
EJ van RijssenSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:22:59 UTC
Down with developments on the Atlantic seaboard!
Malie van der MerweSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:19:06 UTC
One of the most inclusive and scenically beautiful places in the world. Keep developers out!

Why dont we just build houses on Table Mountain as well?!
Carl WoermannSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 10:00:32 UTC
Please keep this vital area free of buildings. We use this area with our children and would be poorer without it!
Nina JoubertSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:57:52 UTC
We should be protecting our open spaces. There is enough shops etc. in Cape Town and no more is needed.
Michelle BuchelSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:48:23 UTC
Justin LeahySigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:46:36 UTC
Main Road Greenpoint already offers everything we as locals need - shops, malls, restuarants etc. The seafront has purposely not ever been developed because that is our view, and our views are what makes CT so attractive. Develop the beachfront, remove the view, decrease the national heritage of our land with no benefits to the public who currently enjoy the wonderful sights of Sea Point beach, and prominade. The only benefits are financial ones for the developers. Sad isn't it.

    don't do it

Public spaces should belong to the PUBLIC
Reinmar BiesenbachSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:36:09 UTC
Keep this open public space the way it is at the moment. For everyone to be used.
Julian van NiekerkSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:25:16 UTC
Lindie MetzSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:25:12 UTC
We walk along the promenade regularly, it would be a great shame to see it fall in the hands of greedy developers.
Elizma MoutonSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:20:33 UTC
The public open space at Seapoint beach front should not be developed, but kept for the public to enjoy!
Trevor WatsonSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:18:48 UTC
There are still areas in Seapoint that are degraded and could be renovated and developed without having to use our open areas.
Cindy GilbertSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:17:24 UTC
I've been walking the Sea Point Promenade since I was a little girl and now go there regularly with my two small children. It's a wonderful space to walk and enjoy what Cape Town has to offer. It would be a terrible shame to take that away from us!
Reinette WiechersSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 09:07:33 UTC
Leslie CameronSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 08:59:09 UTC
I used to live in Hall road in Sea Point and made regular use of this public space for exercise and leisure. Had it not been there I would not have lived in Sea Point in the first place.
Craig EmmerichSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 08:56:44 UTC
With space in the area at a premium, one would of thought that leaving alone, the last area where public are able to freely interact, freely roam and enjoy the natural beauty that abounds, would've been the obvious choice. I am shocked at the entirely blinkered plans that have been set out. How can this work if there is not even an assurance that there will be enough electricity to run an area, which will be an eye-sore, instead of the attraction that it is now?

those public spaces must stay public! next thing we are gonna sell the mountain to private investors and they will built the most expensive apartment blocks on top! who would agree to that?!

No public spaces must be developed for commercial/private use. This is outrageous - next it will be Rondebosch Common.

Faldielah KhanSigned on: Mon 28 Jan 2008 07:51:07 UTC
It would be a shame if this happens. Let us try and avoid this.

Public Space MUST remain the `Green Lungs` for use by all.We have so little P.O.S. in our South African cities it is so important to preserve what we do have.

Please stop messing with the environment in Cape Town. All green, breathing spaces are being filled in by concrete.
Geoff FriedlanderSigned on: Sun 27 Jan 2008 14:24:55 UTC
The sea front should be for all. The council should maintain it as such.
