| Jane Notten | Signed on: Wed 23 Jan 2008 12:50:34 UTC We don't need another mall we need safe public open spaces - the sea point promenade is one place where you can walk alone OUTSIDE and enjoy the natural beauty of cape town at any time of day or night without fearing for your safety. My international friends rave about this strip of public space as well - so it is also a tourist attraction. If this goes through it will be a massive blunder for the city - and ruin a perfectly good working public space. Please don't let greedy developers always get their own way!!!!! |

| Sam | Signed on: Wed 23 Jan 2008 12:46:53 UTC What a sad day it will be when somebody chooses to exploit the land for profit above the wellbeing and happiness of the residents of Seapoint and surrounds (often seen jogging, relaxing or waking htere after a hard days' work). Many of whom live in tiny flats and don't have the luxury of a garden. Please do not rezone this area. |

Every year my wife & plan our vac around CT, and the Seapoint is a definite destination every year. Please note the Bible's warning in Luke (16:13): “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches.” The decision is yours, but remember there are bound to be consequences & my pray to the money hungary consorts is that my God have mercy on your soul. | maresa pretorius | Signed on: Wed 23 Jan 2008 12:19:06 UTC taking away the seafront and promenade will not only ruin the vibe and atmosphere of sea point but of cape town as a whole. how many city's are there where you can go to the promenade over lunch and walk along the beautiful area? |

Please develops stop the greed, there is no need. Thanking you Vanessa |

| Karen Harding | Signed on: Wed 23 Jan 2008 11:21:51 UTC It will be terrible to lose such a valuable place. It is where all cultures meet, mix and partake of what little Cape Town has left to offer before yet another place goes into money money money and using up precious electricity. |
| |
| Andrew Marquard | Signed on: Wed 23 Jan 2008 11:18:47 UTC We walk on the promenade one a week at least, and have done for a number of years - the last thing cape town needs is more malls/shopping centres, and the one thing it does desparately need is more high-quality public space. The promenade is one of the few high-quality public spaces in cape town and to threaten even a little of it would be very foolish |

| rein myburgh | Signed on: Wed 23 Jan 2008 11:04:32 UTC This is another stunningly idiotic idea (no doubt hatched by some municipal Turkey who has family in retail and/or construction?) Be this as it may, we live in a city with an alarmingly limited amount of recreational space. We must take every step and pursue every measure to preserve the little we have....if not for our own, then for the sake of our kids. One only needs to travel to Europe once to realize what it is to live in a city with inadequate facilities and little / or no skyline. Depressing. Despite every attempt we made, the bureaucrats stole our Golf course and all the surrounding grounds for that ill conceived, ill positioned, and therefore no doubt ill-fated 2010 stadium. Are we now going to stand by and let them take our promenade as well? No @#$%&* way! |
