Please do not threaten a wonderful community open space where all are welcome to enjoy the beauty of Cape Town and its ocean front.

public space belongs to the people. it is one of the things that makes cape town as beautiful as it is. dont destroy it

I think it is shocking that we have not yet learnt from the overdevelopment of many golf courses all over the country the harm that this do the environemnt and the community. Furtehr to this is one of the prime spots frequented by tousists from all over the world. We will be hard pressed to explain how this has disapeared under the priority of luxury deprtaements. Lastly this will not help to alleviate the need for housing in this country on for the the middle calass to poor parts of our communities.

Keep it public. Keep it open. Prevent a couple of people from getting rich at our expense!

Let's preserve the promenade as it is ! No noisy, ugly hotels or nightclubs, thank you !

We love the promenade and regularly go there to relax and enjoy the beautiful views, as do 100's of other people. Locals & tourists. Today and in the future. This is a very special part of our city. To deface it with yet another ugly, badly built, modern monstrosity is a sin!

I lived in Sea point from 2005 - 2007 and loved jogging along the promenade with friends. It would be very sad if this wonderful public space was taken over by development.
Nicky RyanSigned on: Mon 21 Jan 2008 14:25:35 UTC
Keep it open for the public. With so much commercial development already taking place, to take away public space is just greed.

sea point is part of our lives...we recognise it as our own and it plays a pivotal role in our lives on various occassions, religion (moon sighting) birthdays, community (jive big walk) etc... we must protect it....

I use this public open space more than once per week for walks and running. I also take my children there for walks, and it has proven to be one of the few safe, clean, and beautiful spaces left in the City that we enjoy as individuals and family. Please preserve!

As an ex-Capetonian 'm horrified to see to what extents that big business will go to push a fast buck to the detriment of all who live in and around the area.

    Another drawcard for criminalism...

I'm a regular walker/jogger on the Seapoint Promenade. It is the most beautiful place to enjoy alongside a diverse group of CapeTonians. Please don't take that away from us.

I support SEAFA. This development will not benefit the public in any way; the only beneficiaries will be the developers and the public servants they have bribed.

One of my best memories of visit to CT is swimming in the Seapoint pool early in the morning in the sun - something impossible in Scotland. Show friends the photos of families picnicking in the grounds on bank holiday - can't wait to come back. this fantastic resource must be saved!

I do not support the proposed development of the sites in question, beyond the envelope of the previous pavilion. Any development should only be allowed if it benefits the public that currently enjoys the use of this public area ie: no hotel/apartments but perhaps restaurant/take away etc

I have been holidaying in Cape Town since I was a child, and cannot accept that ANY multistory development would go up to taint our view of one of the most beautiful sites in the world

When is the city going to accomomdate the need for a public skate park for teens?
There is a desparate need for this. Kids have no voice and no place to congregate.

if we lose the sea point promenade, we lose the soul of cape town

Unthinkable that this playground for all - also for me as a runner - becomes the prey of greedy investors and is taken away from us, who pay the salaries of the very people deciding such rubbsih!

the sea point beachfront esp the pavillion makes sea point accessable to all of cape town's people. where the sea point pavillion to be developed a vast majority of cape town's population will no longer visit sea point as the public facilities will be gone.

As an expatriate of the States, I have enjoyed the Sea Point swimming pool and promenade as a major feature in Cape Town. It is a great meeting place for people, an opportunity for south africans of all colours to mix and meet and enjoy the great outdoors. The cost of 'devleoping' this space could never be reconciled with mere rands.
