I grew up in Sea Point and the Sea Point Beachfront Promenade was a place were we all walked, ran and met. It holds many incredible memories for many Capetonians and possibly for future generations too.

Hands Off the Pavillion!! The current Pavillion is a prime public space for both Capetonians and international visitors to relax and enjoy the ocean view. It should be declared a national heritage site so that nobody can touch it, now or in the future...

The last thing we need is a beach development in Cape Town that resembles the Spanish and French beachfronts.

This is peace on earth for multi racial community. Tradition has shown that this area needs to be saved for all the rainbow nation.

Leave this pristine area that is enjoyed by ALL alone. It is greed and self gain motivated by developers that do not care!!

As a regular visitor to this area, I would not like to see this beachfront cluttered by more developments.
Fiona LightfootSigned on: Fri 27 Feb 2009 14:46:49 UTC
yes - it is everyones right to be able to enjoy it .. I used to enjoy my evening runs along the promenade , so dont think its fair to keep it for a select few to enjoy
    Tanya Nockler-GoldinSigned on: Fri 27 Feb 2009 14:36:19 UTC
I walk my dogs along this Promenade every week. It\'s about the only safe open space to do so, given the muggings on the Mountain. Obviously I support this petition!!!

This will be another case of the rich get richer and the ordinary citizens lose out again. This is an area that has always been available to all and should remain that way. It is part of the Cape Town heritage.

As an ex Sea point Ratepayer I feel more thought should go into the planned development
before a concrete jungle similar to the old Building which was knocked down only a few years ago re occurs

Thank you for Atlantic Sun for supporting this campaign. Now please publsh a photo & background of the this property developer that is prepared to spoil our heritage and precious space for a profit. We want to know more about him, where he lives and what he looks like.

Its a disgrace that City of Cape Town can even consider deetroying our heritage, which has been entrusted to them, for a few Rands!!

I just can not believe that Tasneem Essop actually approved this development. What was she thinking? Was there a more sinister reason perhaps?

I am totally against the development on the Sea Point Promenade / area. It will only benefit the developers and those who they have in their pockets. Nothing these days is done openly or correctly. We have enough ugly shopping centres. We dont need anymore especially on our coastline

I\'ve lived in Cape Town all my life and enjoyed the Sea Point promenade for walks and fresh air, and only swim at the Pavilion and would be devastated if this was developed by the greedy property developers. All our open spaces are being \"eaten up\" and only these people benefit from it!

That is an area I have enjoyed for so many years and now share with my toddler - we all lead very busy and stressful lives and with all the development and building constantly around one, can the city not spare us that space for some peace and quiet. A place to breathe and enjoy our beautiful city. That is what Cape Town is about - NATURE. Live up to that.
