The Pavilion is a centrepiece of the Sea Point promenade and a wonderful place for both visitors and local residents to relax and view the sea and the shore. It is also an interesting piece of architectural heritage. We must not allow it to be destroyed by these sneaky short-term profiteers.

Let us not make this yet another instance of not appreciating what we have until it we\'ve lost it. And if we do lose it, we have to blame ourselves. The power is in our hands.

This is an extremely important cause. The promenade is unique in South Africa in so many ways, but probably the most prominent of them would be that the promenade is free, multicultural, safe and gives south africans a sense of community.

If development displaces the natural beauty of CT, how many tourists will want to come there any more? You can blow your greatest asset in order to have beds for those who come for that short time, then they will be gone and all you\'ll have is empty hotel rooms. I LOVE Cape Town, but if Seapoint gets built up, what will there be to come there for? You can only go up the mountain and to the Aquarium so many times. Walking, having dinner and a glass of wine and watching the sunset, or just sitting on a rock and listening to the waves and smelling the water - those are your assets and should be inviolable.

Even though I do not live in Seapoint I have friends that do and it is always great to visit them and have a the stunning view. If this goes ahead it will replace my friends view of the sea wih the view of a parking garage. How would the developers feel if we paint pictures of parking garages on the windows of their homes so that is all they see when trying to look out of them.

Any development on the seaward side of Beach Road will be the beginning of the end for the Sea Point beach front.

A gross violation of the rights of many people who use this area for recreation. On many occassions have I seen people from Sub-Economic areas just sitting in Sea Point sharing a meagre meal, but non-fussed by it because this is the only time they can enjoy, beauty, peace, calm and do it freely. This violation needs to be stopped, no matter how its done!!

The Seapoint sea front is for all peoples of Cape Town and must be protected and preserved for all to use, not just a few.

When Cape Town breaks down peace-by-peace historical Buildings and Community institution, to make more Space for Tourists or for 2010.
How does Cape Town look like after 2010 and in winter when the Tourists are gone?

    I project: \"VERY EMPTY\"

So much of our heritage and beauty is being developed in the name of progress - where will it stop, when we are no longer the fairest Cape of them all but just another 3rd world city.

I am against the reconstruction of the sea point promenade. This is an area for people to enjoy walking, running and watching the sun set socialising with friends - as it has been since I was a little girl.

NO DEVELOPMENT! A complete travesty of proper procedure and judgement
Ayesha DhansaySigned on: Wed 11 Mar 2009 14:15:29 UTC
The beauty of Cape Town should be accessible to who live in it, not just the wealthy. If developments take over all Cape Town\'s natural beauty, what will be left for the citizens who live here? Everyone has a right to the natural resources this city has to offer, and no one should be denied that right! and thats what will happen if areas like the seapoint pavilion pools and walkway gets destroyed due to developments. So i say no to developmemts on the beach front!
