Seafront for All has two petitions. We are currently running one which is directed to Serena Rosslind, Lawrence Peregrino and Farrell Bernberg, the directors of the development company, On Track Developments (Pty) Ltd. This petition is a collaboration with the Social Justice Coalition , an independent group that considers the proposed development unconstitutional. The petition appeals to On Track’s directors to allow the use of the Pavilion and Promenade Public Open Space to be determined by and for the good of all the people of Cape Town. It asks them not to proceed with the development and asks too that they support the call of the community for due process to be properly enacted. This petition is still active, and continues to grow. It demands that there be no commercial development of the Sea Point Pavilion site, that the Public Open Space be preserved and that there be no rezoning of the large erven (properties) in question. Click here to see the erven affected by the intended rezoning. The previous petition is being used in support of the High Court Application made by SEAFA which opposes the development. To date, over 5,000 signatures have been gathered on line and a total of more than 12,000 signatures have been delivered to the City of Cape Town.
