SEAFA has already engaged the services of a top South African law firm, eminent senior and junior counsel, a consulting town and regional planner and environmental consultants. SEAFA will, initially, take the decision from Minister Essop to give environmental approval for the project on review in the High Court. SEAFA will also engage the City and Province to ensure that Erven 151, 153 and 318 not be rezoned.
Preliminary indications from our legal team are that we have good prospects of being successful. In order to accomplish its objectives, SEAFA relies on public funding and any pledge towards the funding of the opposition to the proposed development will assist in attaining our objectives. Our initial target is R1 million and we already have commitments for significant donations. We will rely further on donations from prominent individuals, bodies corporate, members of the community and the public at large. Please join the SEAFA cause, donate and assist us to save the coastal open space.
