What is SEAFA? PDF Print E-mail

“Seafront For All” is a non-profit organisation established, on a volunteer basis, by concerned citizens of the Western Cape. Its sole purpose is the protection and conservation of the Atlantic seaboard. In particular, SEAFA aims to preserve the Sea Point Pavilion and Promenade as Public Open Space for the benefit of all.

The Sea Point Pavilion and adjacent promenade has served as a recreational space for many generations of Sea Point residents, Capetonians and tourists of all cultures and backgrounds. The Sea Point Pavilion is built on portions of erven 151, 153 and 318 Sea Point West, which erven are zoned Public Open Space. At any given time, one is likely to find strollers, sightseers, swimmers and runners on the promenade, enjoying the open space and magnificent views.

In season the swimming pools and lawns provide endless hours of fun and, at times, a quiet space for religious practices. In short, the Public Open Space is utilised daily and is of significant cultural, environmental and historical significance to many.
